In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR), below are the rules for the safe use of pallet truck batteries:
Application
The battery is intended solely for powering pallet trucks that comply with its technical parameters (voltage, capacity, cell type).
Installation and connection Installation should be carried out by a person trained in the use of traction batteries. Ensure that the battery is correctly connected to the truck's electrical system. Do not tamper with the battery design or use non-original cables and connectors.
Charging
Only use chargers suitable for the type of battery (gel, AGM, lithium-ion). Do not charge near sources of fire, high temperatures or in unventilated rooms.
Avoid completely discharging or overcharging the battery.
Operation
Do not operate the trolley with a damaged or leaking battery.
Protect the battery from shocks, moisture and extreme temperatures.
Regularly check the condition of the casing, cables and connectors.
Maintenance
For lead-acid batteries, periodically check the electrolyte level and top up with demineralised water.
Keep the battery surface and electrical contacts clean.
Store the battery in a partially charged state in a dry and cool place.
User safety
When handling the battery, use personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles).
Avoid contact of the electrolyte with skin and eyes – in case of contact, rinse with water and consult a doctor.
Do not allow unauthorised persons to handle or charge the battery.
Disposal
Used batteries should be taken to specialised collection or recycling points. It is prohibited to dispose of batteries in mixed waste or the environment.
