Safe use – Frames, housings and covers for pallet trucks

In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR), the following safe use guidelines for frames, housings and protective covers are provided.

Application

This category includes structural frames, housings, panels, protective covers and mounting elements. They are used to protect mechanisms, increase rigidity and shield moving parts.

Safe operating conditions

• Use, install and maintain only in line with manufacturer’s instructions.
• Fasteners must be suitable for the intended load and conditions.
• Covers of moving parts must be securely fixed.
• Materials must be resistant to corrosion and mechanical stress.
• The design must not obstruct inspection or servicing.

Risks

• Mechanical injury: accidental contact with moving parts without protection.
• Falling parts: loose or poorly secured covers may detach.
• Corrosion: weakening of the structure in humid environments.
• Material fatigue: damage caused by vibration or heavy use.
• Environmental hazard: improper disposal of metals and plastics.

Warnings

• Before dismantling, stop the machine and secure it.
• Do not use damaged, bent or corroded covers.
• Do not exceed the load capacity of structural parts.
• Do not use covers that interfere with other components.
• Avoid flammable materials near heat sources.

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Gloves, safety glasses, helmet, safety footwear.

Maintenance

• Regularly check condition, fixings and weld points.
• Remove corrosion and reapply protective coatings.
• Replace damaged parts immediately.

Transport and storage

• Protect against scratches, impacts and deformation.
• Store in a dry, clean location with protected edges.

In case of failure

• Stop the machine immediately and replace the damaged cover.
• Remove loose fragments and check structural integrity.

Disposal

Dispose of metal and plastic materials via appropriate recycling facilities.
