In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR), we present below the safety rules for the use of shafts and gears in pallet truck drive systems.

Application

Shafts and gears are essential components of the pallet truck drive system. They transmit torque and ensure smooth operation of the mechanisms, enabling safe maneuvering and load transport.

Installation and mounting

• Installation and removal must be carried out only by qualified technical personnel.
• Use only shafts and gears in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications (dimensions, material, number of teeth, tolerances).
• After installation, check proper meshing – no excessive play, grinding noises, or jamming.

Operation

• Operate the pallet truck only within its rated capacity and intended use.
• Avoid overloads, sudden load changes, or blockages that may cause wear or damage.
• If unusual noises, vibrations, or performance loss occur, stop immediately and carry out a technical inspection.

Operating conditions

• Use drive components only under conditions specified by the manufacturer (temperature, humidity, clean environment).
• Protect the mechanism from dirt, dust, liquids, chemicals, and extreme temperatures.

Maintenance

• Regularly check the condition of shafts and gears – monitor for wear, cracks, or excessive play.
• Ensure proper lubrication to minimize friction and wear.
• Inspect bearings and fasteners regularly – looseness can cause faulty meshing and damage.

Transport and storage

• Store in a dry, clean place, protected against corrosion.
• During transport, protect against shocks, deformation, and mechanical damage.

Disposal

Used or damaged shafts and gears must be delivered to a metal recycling facility. Do not dispose of with household waste.
