Safety Information
In line with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR), the following rules apply to the safe use of ignition switches in pallet trucks and forklifts.
Application
The ignition switch is used to start or stop the engine or the electrical system. It controls the power supply, usually with a key, and may include wiring and a specified number of pins.
Hazards
- Malfunction of the system when using unsuitable or damaged switches.
- Risk of accidental starting or stopping of the vehicle.
- Electric shock hazard due to incorrect wiring.
- Possible short-circuit and damage to the electrical system.
- Mechanical damage to the switch or key due to misuse.
Precautions
- Use only switches that meet the manufacturer’s specifications (brand, model, pin count, dimensions).
- Carry out installation/removal with the power supply disconnected.
- Use appropriate tools and protective gloves.
- Regularly check the condition of keys, pins and wires.
- Do not use switches with visible damage.
Disposal
Dispose of worn switches via WEEE collection points. Do not dispose of with household waste.
