Safety Information
In line with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR), the following rules apply to the safe use of electric lift motors.
Application
Electric lift motors drive the lifting system of pallet trucks and forklifts, providing controlled raising and lowering of forks or the carriage according to the equipment specifications.
Hazards
- Damage to the lifting system (mast, forks, mechanism) when using unsuitable, defective or incompatible motors.
- Risk of lifting mechanism failure and uncontrolled lowering of the load.
- Electric shock hazard from unauthorised work on the electrical installation.
- Injury risk during installation/removal (crushing, cuts, assembly weight).
- Overload and overheating due to incorrect parameters (voltage, power) or improper operation (prolonged duty, inadequate cooling).
Precautions
- Use only motors that meet the equipment manufacturer’s specifications (voltage, power, speed, compatibility).
- Inspect regularly: brushes, cable insulation, electrical connections, signs of overheating or wear.
- During installation/removal, use appropriate tools and lifting aids, and wear gloves and eye protection.
- Work only with power isolated and secured against unintended start-up.
- Observe cooling intervals and avoid overload; use thermal/overcurrent protection and fuses as specified.
Disposal
Dispose of end-of-life motors via WEEE collection points or authorised recyclers. Do not dispose of with household waste.
