Safety Information

In line with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR), below are the safety guidelines for a pallet truck travel direction setpoint device (drive direction encoder).

Application

The travel setpoint device is an electronic subassembly of the control panel that defines the truck’s travel direction. It sends signals to the control system, enabling forward/reverse motion and smooth acceleration and deceleration.

Hazards

• Risk of electric shock due to improper installation or working on live circuits.
• Risk of unintended movement if the device fails or is miscalibrated.
• Risk of short circuits/overheating from damaged insulation, loose connectors or moisture ingress.
• Electronic damage caused by moisture, oils, dust and vibration.

Safe Use

1. Installation, replacement and adjustment must be performed by qualified personnel only.
2. Disconnect power and prevent accidental start-up before any work.
3. Do not open the housing; the unit is not user-serviceable.
4. Routinely verify smooth, symmetric response (forward/reverse) with no lag.
5. Check wiring and connectors for secure seating; loose contacts can cause arcing and false signals.
6. Protect from moisture, dust and chemicals; keep the mounting area clean.
7. After service/replacement, perform a functional test: direction, acceleration and deceleration.
8. On anomalies (self-movement, no response, burning smell) power down immediately and contact service.

Disposal

Treat used or damaged travel setpoint devices as electrical/electronic waste. Dispose of via authorized collection points in accordance with local regulations. Do not discard with household waste.
