Safety Information

In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR), the following rules apply to the safe use of tie rod ends on forklift trucks.

Application

Tie rod ends connect the steering rod to the steering knuckle components, transmitting steering input to the wheels for precise handling and vehicle stability.

Hazards

• Loss of steering control due to worn ball joints (play, seizure).
• Tyre/suspension damage from incorrect installation or misalignment.
• Injury risk when working under an unsecured/unsupported vehicle.
• Corrosion or cracking leading to steering failure.

Precautions

• Service and installation by qualified personnel only.
• Switch off engine, secure the truck against movement, and use proper supports.
• Use parts to manufacturer specs; apply specified torque; replace split pins/nylocs.
• Check and adjust wheel alignment (toe) after replacement.
• Keep dust boots intact to prevent contamination.

Maintenance

• Periodically check for play, boot condition and fastener integrity.
• Replace at first signs of wear, cracking or corrosion.
• After service, perform a test drive and re-check fasteners.

Disposal

Dispose of metal/rubber components via authorised collection streams per local regulations.
