In accordance with EU Regulation 2023/988 on General Product Safety GPSR below are the safety guidelines for forklift horns audible warning devices

Application

The horn audible warning device is installed on a forklift to warn nearby persons of vehicle movement

Main hazards

• Electrical short or failure resulting in no audible warning
• Excessive sound level that may damage hearing at close range
• Incorrect mounting risking detachment vibration or damage to adjacent parts
• Water dust and contact corrosion leading to malfunction
• Incorrect voltage or polarity potentially damaging the vehicle wiring

Safe use

• Use devices with voltage current power and tone matching the vehicle specification
• Install with unobstructed sound outlets
• Protect wiring from abrasion strain and moisture
• Do not use if sound is distorted the housing is damaged or the unit is loose

Installation and service

• Work to be carried out by qualified electromechanical personnel
• Disconnect vehicle power before installation
• Use specified connectors seals and fasteners as per documentation
• After installation verify sound level tone clarity and secure mounting

Maintenance and inspection

• Periodically test operation and sound clarity
• Clean without aggressive solvents
• Check ground integrity and corrosion free conductors

Operating conditions

• Use as intended and within any specified duty cycle limits
• Avoid extreme humidity chemicals and temperatures without protection

Storage and transport

• Store dry and clean protect from moisture and shock
• During transport protect against impacts and deformation

Disposal

• Treat used units as WEEE and metal parts dispose at approved facilities
• Oil contaminated items to be disposed of according to local regulations
