Safety Information
In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR), the following rules apply to the safe use of spark plugs for forklift trucks.
Application
The spark plug is a component of the ignition system of a forklift’s combustion engine. It generates the ignition spark in the combustion chamber, enabling proper engine starting and operation.
Hazards
- Risk of electric shock when touching ignition wires or the spark plug while the engine is running.
- Risk of engine damage if the spark plug is incorrectly specified or worn.
- Risk of burns when touching a hot spark plug after engine operation.
- Ignition malfunctions if the spark plug is dirty or damaged.
Precautions
- Only install or replace spark plugs with the engine switched off and power disconnected.
- Use only spark plugs that comply with the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Regularly check the condition of spark plugs and ignition wires.
- Protect the ignition system from moisture and dirt.
- Do not use damaged or unsuitable spark plugs.
Maintenance
- Replace spark plugs according to the manufacturer’s service schedule.
- Check electrode gap and insulator condition during inspections.
- Replace spark plugs if worn, fouled, or mechanically damaged.
Disposal
Used spark plugs should be taken to a scrap metal collection point or disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
