Safety Information

In accordance with EU Regulation 2023/988 on General Product Safety GPSR below are the safety guidelines for using a forklift steering wheel

Application

The steering wheel is part of the forklift steering system It transmits movement to the steering column and gear Use only on trucks that meet the manufacturer specifications

Main hazards

• Loss of vehicle control if the wheel loosens cracks or detaches
• Hand and finger injury from sudden kickback or steering lock
• Hand slippage on a worn oily or smooth rim
• Reduced visibility and grip if a spinner knob is mounted incorrectly
• Corrosion and material degradation weakening the structure

Safe use

• Use wheels compatible with the truck model dimensions and mounting
• Keep the rim clean and dry avoid oils and greases
• Adjust seat position for a firm grip and full steering lock
• Do not operate with cracks wear play or deformation
• Fit spinner knobs only as recommended by the manufacturer in a non obstructive position

Installation and service

• Installation and replacement by qualified personnel per documentation
• Use the correct taper spline or adapter and specified torque
• Secure the joint against self loosening
• After installation verify full lock to lock travel and clearance

Maintenance and inspection

• Regularly check for play rim condition and fastener integrity
• Clean with mild non solvent cleaners
• If play or cracks are found remove the truck from service and repair

Operating conditions

• Operate as intended avoid impacts to the wheel
• No structural modifications or unauthorised accessories
• Adapt driving to surface conditions and speed

Storage and transport

• Store dry and clean protect from UV and chemicals
• Protect from crushing and damage during transport

Disposal

• Dispose of as plastic and metal waste at approved facilities
• Oil contaminated parts to be disposed of per local regulations
