How to check the carriage class and the condition of the forks before replacement?
Before selecting forks, the compatibility of the forklift carriage class must be confirmed according to the ISO 2328 standard, which defines the height and spacing of the mounting hooks. The classes differ in the distance between the upper and lower hook: 2A – approx. 407 mm, 3A – approx. 508 mm, 4A – approx. 635 mm. The letter A refers to the coupling design (hook type). The class can be verified by measuring the distance between the upper and lower hook of the forklift fork, by reading the forklift nameplate, or in the manufacturer’s technical documentation. Correct matching of the fork class to the forklift carriage class is a prerequisite for safe installation and operation.
Before replacement, the technical condition of the existing forks should also be assessed. Forks must be replaced if the thickness in the working area has decreased by approx. 10% compared to the nominal dimension, if they show cracks in the hook area or at the heel, or if they have permanent deformations or twists of the profile. Cross-section wear results in an actual reduction of the forklift’s load capacity and may be questioned during a UDT inspection.

No. Forks should be replaced in pairs to ensure even load distribution and stability during forklift operation.
WHEN SHOULD FORKS BE REPLACED?
In case of permanent deformation, cracks, twists, or significant cross-section wear. Damaged forks should not be used further.
WHAT DO THE CLASSES 2A, 3A AND 4A MEAN?
The carriage classes 2A, 3A and 4A are designations according to the ISO 2328 standard, which defines the dimensions and type of mounting hooks for forklift forks. In class 2A the distance between the upper and lower hook is approx. 407 mm, in class 3A approx. 508 mm and in class 4A approx. 635 mm. The letter A indicates the hook type (hook profile). The fork class must match the forklift carriage class to ensure correct and safe installation.
IS A LOCKING PIN INCLUDED WITH THE FORKS?
Yes. A locking pin is included with the forks to prevent them from slipping off the carriage backrest.
