This value must be verified by measuring the forklift carriage (between the upper and lower hook), checking the nameplate, or consulting the technical documentation. Choosing the wrong class prevents safe fork installation.
Before replacement, the technical condition of the existing forks should also be assessed. Forks must be replaced if the thickness of the working section has decreased by approximately 10% compared to the nominal dimension, if they show cracks in the hook area or at the heel, or exhibit permanent deformation or twisting of the profile. Cross-section wear leads to an actual reduction in forklift load capacity and may be questioned during a UDT inspection.
